Gorgas Negras (Spain)

Gorgas Negras is the most remote canyon of the Sierra de Guara Park. This is also the most difficult, longiest and aquatic trip of the whole area. The loop trip is about 10 hours of effort and even more if you are tired along the course and take some unexpected rest. This trip require that all participant should be prepared for this spectacular and imposing canyon between two impressive cliffs. This is a truly aqualand where canyoneerers will be found an incredible succession of potholes, long aquatic narrow passage, numerous chaos (Huge pile of fallen rocks) and splendid waterfalls. Several facultative jump over 10 meters height are possible. Gorgas Negras has 7km long (included the exit via Barasil Canyon) and require a rope of 50 meters long, wetsuit and of course all equipment about canyoneering sport. Rio Alcanadre is a big river so do not enters on this canyon if flash flood occurs in the area. If all condition is good you will never forget this trip of your life ... it is a must belive me! In fact, it is not a hardcore canyon but the longer of the trip and the cold water let you on a state of complete exhaustion. The trip start from the delightful village of Rodellar at the heart of Sierra de Guara by a hike of 3 hours across the sierra via the abandonned village of Nasarre before reach the canyon entrance. In any case to fully enjoyed the trip do not start your hike after 7am otherwise, you will finished too late on the day and even by night (depending the season).
