The Navajo Nation is the largest Indian reservation in the USA, about 62000 square kilometers. Located in the Four Corners region of the Colorado Plateau, the Indian land lies most in northern Arizona but included also are parts of New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. The Navajo Nation is famous world-wide for the outstanding site of Monument Valley Tribal Park, which exhibits majestic monoliths and sheer-cliffed mesas. This area of great natural splendor attracts millions of tourists each year. But great natural treasures can also be found hidden in other twisted canyons, remote mesas, or pretty valleys in this enchanted land. The gallery above shows natural arches outside of Monument Valley, spread out in the Navajolands. These arches can be visited by special permit required by tribal regulation, or with a Navajo guide. Royal Arch is probably one of the most spectacular examples of a natural arch phenomenon in the world. It is located near Lukachukai Mountain and close to the New Mexico border. It has a height of 170 feet.
