Tarout Arch is located on Jabbaren (The Giant in Tamahaq) site on the vast Tassili National Park, wilaya  of Illizi, Algeria. Tarout is a Tuareg name for Duprez cypress (cupressus Dupreziana), a relic tree about 2000 years old see behind the opening. Only around 200 species survive in Tassili-n-Ajjer on a hostile environment.
