The peninsula of Casteljau is located near the hamlet of Casteljau in Ardèche department of France. Both road D452 and the trail called Sentier du Renard (Fox Trail) gives access to an astonishing maze of rocks and pinnacles situated on each side of the peninsula of Casteljau on the rim of Chassezac Canyon (Gorges du Chassezac). Natural arches can be found on the sculptural cliffs above Chassezac River on both side of the gorges. The spectacular Arche de Casteljau is a biggest opening of the area. This pillar arch is located at the entrance of a natural passageway where the Fox Trail (Sentier du Renard) wriggle through it. The natural tunnel can be used by an average person. This natural arch spanned a deep crack. The opening would be have at less 8 meters of height. This natural arch is located on the cliff above Chassezac River on Gorges du Chassezac. The opening has an estimated height of 7.0 meters. A natural arch with a measured height of 6.5 meters.
A nice natural arch about 3.6 meters of height can be found on the karstic maze of Casteljau.

This mossy karstic arch is located near the locality of L'Agachou and have a estimated height of 2 meters. This natural arch has an incredible "Dantean Wall" located close by. Photo taken after rain. Oozing moisture on the wall enhances the work of nature.
