ALG-243. This natural arch is located on the site of Tissoukai on the vast Tassili National Park,
wilaya (province) of Illizi, Algeria. The opening has a measured span of about 5.4 meters. The name of the arch comes from the
Tifinar inscription and painting from the dromedary period that is found around the arch.
Tifinar inscriptions are short messages left by shepherds or nomads of this period. The oldest ones are not deciphered by the present nomads of the region, although they comprise almost the same alphabet as today.
