FR-8. Pont Naturel de Tre-La-Tete is located on Nant de Tre-la-Tete torrent in Mont-Blanc region near the ski area of Les Contamines Montjoie, Haute-Savoie department of France. This canyon is located on altitude and presents hardcore difficulties due to a strong glacial flow all year round, fed by the glacier bassin of Tre-La-Tete. In the winter of 2000 (winter is the best time to descend the canyon), the author and friend found every cascade under a matrix of ice and the canyon impassable to rappeling. Fortunately, the meander natural bridge located at the canyon exit can be easily visited from the trail along side the canyon. The arch is located by red star at place of interest on the IGN topographic map Top 25 number 3531 east Saint-Gervais (pleat G1).

The two photos below was taken on same day during a canicular period of summer 2011 (over 90° F at the base of the glacier). The first photo was taken in the morning with regular current and the second photo late on the day fed by massive water due to the melting of the ice.
