L'Arche des Pénitents

FR-1. L'Arche des Pénitents (Penitents' Arch) is located on Rochers des Pénitents close to the village of Les Mées in Alpes de Haute-Provence department of France. This natural arch is situated on the top of these rocks and it is accessible by a marked trail which follow the crest line of the cliff. The trail begins behind the village near the campground. The opening has a measured height of 16.0 meters. It was the first arch that author visited in France years ago and the first arch documented on The Journal of Natural Arch Discoveries edited by the late Chris Moore.
