Hand Hold Arch

The arch above is located on the rim of Lavender Canyon in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. This area is accessible by 4WD route into Lavender creek. A day-use permit is required to drive into this part of the park, although this arch is close enough to the park boundary that it could be visited without a permit. The arch is visible up on the rim (north) 0.3 miles past the park boundary. It can be reached by an unmarked hiking route to the top of the rim, which requires quite a bit of rock scrambling. On the way, the route passes through another interesting arch.
